History and Architecture of Atlantic Beach

October 9 @ 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Atlantic Beach — The Way We Were
Wednesday, October 9th at 7:00 PM

Sixty years ago, Mediterranean-style stucco homes with tile roofs lent a distinctive and picturesque identity to the village at the western end of the barrier Island. Many have been demolished to make way for much bigger homes that lack the same sunny spirit and beachy character.

It’s possible almost all of these stylish homes could be lost in the coming years.

Join us on Wednesday, October 9th at 7:00 PM. Kevin Kelley will present the history of Atlantic Beach with a focus on the architecture of the Mediterranean-style homes there. The presentation will cover approximately 15 homes, followed by a Q & A.

Kevin Kelley is a retired journalist and literature professor (ret) at St Michael’s College near Burlington, VT, who leads tours in Manhattan for the NY Outdoors Club.

Light refreshments will be served. No charge to attend, donations are always welcome!
